- Architect Michael Bird of Adirondack designs (www.adkgreatcamps.com) designed the house. He is one of the preeminent achitects in the country for the authentic Adirondack architecture. His work has been widely published in bookss such as "Cabin Fever".
- All finish materials are wood ( no drywall in the house)
- The logs and slab trim used in the house are "white cedar" which was harvested in the Adirondack region in upstate New York and shipped to the house. White birch bark from the Adirondack region was also shipped down to give the house an authentic Adirondack look. Poplar bark shingles were also utilized inside and out for the rustic look. These materials make the house unique and authentic to the Adirondack style.
- Old world craftsmanship was used in the construction of the framing and finish detail
- All interior and exterior walls are insulated for energy efficiency and sound
- The house is equipped with a state of the art sound(with multiple zones and speaker controls). The security system includes "waterbugs", which detect water leaks. The security system(including waterbugs) is monitored by Mountain Patrol
- The HVAC system is a variable speed Trane system with multiple zones. The system contains a humidifier control as well as ultraviolet lights(to kill mold and bacteria)
- The walls in the great room are select cypress. The chandeliers made of iron were custom made for the house
- The kitchen counter tops are custom made out of concrete
- The floors throughout the house are extra wide antique heart pine which were recovered from an old cottom mill in Columbia, Sourth Carolina
- All interior doors are 1 3/4 ' thick custom made for the house. Exterior doors are 2" thick.
- All of the tile in the bathrooms are from Waterworks
- Faucets are Newport Brass
- All plumbing fixtures are Kohler.
- There are two large hot water heaters with a continuous loop for instant hot water
- The home is equipped with a central vacuum system
- Patios are Pennsylvania Blue fieldstone
- The floors on the outside deck including the top level of the boathouse are finished with Ipe wood, which is often referred to as "iron wood" and harvested form South America. It is the dense mahogany that is rich in character and extremely durable
- The copper antique art piece over the outside fireplace is imported from England.
- The driveway is exposed aggregate concrete all the way to the top
- Extensive drainage system to control all water around the house
- The house sits in a quiet/private setting
- The lot is set back in the cove where boats do not come close by and it is ideal for swimming without danger of oncoming boats.
